What is 1,4-Dioxane?

Ethoxylation, a shortcut manufacturers use to tone down harsh ingredients in beauty products, generates 1,4-Dioxane. A carcinogen and groundwater contaminant, 1-4-Dioxane is also a suspected kidney, brain, and respiratory toxicant. To steer clear, avoid products with evidence of ethoxylated ingredients. Scan the label for names that include"myreth," "oleth," laureth," "ceteareth" (and any other "eth"), "PEG," "polyethylene," "polyoxyethylene," or "oxynpl."
